The Webliography of Art

1. Art cyclopedia

This website lets you search for artists, artwork or museums.  It tells you where all the Art that artist made is on display and takes you to it by clicking on that link. Also can give a brief bio on the artist.

Advantages are is gives you information on where to find their artwork. Also gives you birth date, death date and style of art. Disadvantages are that some of the artwork is not for student viewers as many artist study the human figure.  I give this site 3 out of 5 paintbrushes.

2. History of Art for Kids! Kidipede

This website gives kids a brief overview of the history of Art starting from the Lascaux cave paintings. Also gives other history information for kids.

Advantages are that within the history you can click on the word links that lead you to other pages that explain the information better. Disadvantage is that it only goes up to the Renaissance period. I give this site 3 out of 5 paintbrushes.

3. Dick Blick Art Supplies

This site allows you to purchase Art supplies and shows you the latest and greatest ones out there.

Advantages are that they post Art lessons that you can download and print off with pictures. They also do videos demonstrating the lessons. Disadvantage is that some of the materials are expensive. I give this website 5 out of 5 paintbrushes.

4. Deep Space Sparkle

A website and blog designed by an Art teacher in California.  Has elementary Art lesson plans.

Advantages are all the amazing art lessons on the website and people comments on what worked or what they changed. They are broken down into grade level or subject  and easy to find. Disadvantages are that if you want to download the actual lesson you have to pay :( So looking at the pictures are creating your own is always a cheaper way to go.  I give this site 4 out of 5 paintbrushes.

5.  Crayola

This site based on crayola products leads you to many coloring pages, craft ideas and lesson plans. It also explain their products and the latest and greatest ones available.

Advantages are that this is a great site not only for educators but for parents too.  They can sign up for an account and get plenty of resources for birthday parties or just coloring at home.  For educators they send you a month email with new lessons for the month.  It is not only for Art but other subject areas as well.  Disadvantages are that they want you to use their products and sometimes you have to buy it just to get what you need for a lesson.  I give this site 5 out of 5 paintbrushes.

6. Mr. Picasso Head

Create your own image with students using Picasso elements and print them out.

Advantages are this a website to reinforce Picasso if you are teaching him to students.  It is also great to print them out and hang them up.  Disadvantages are there is only so many tools to choose from and students get bored after the first few.  I give this website 5 out of 5 paintbrushes.

7.  Kinder Art

This site has lesson plans and other things for Art teachers to use.  Lessons for all ages.

Advantages are it has ideas for Pre-K as well. It gives ideas for crafts and has coloring pages.  Parents can use this site too.  There is also a blog that is updated regularly.  Disadvantages are that it can be a little overwhelming to look through since there is so much on the site.  I give this website 5 out of 5 paintbrushes.
